PRODUCT Spotlight: Rodgers Pipe Organs

Respected worldwide for its digital organs that produce truly authentic pipe organ sound, Rodgers is also known for its remarkable expertise and history of building complete pipe organs. The following images are from a Rodgers Pipe Organ brochure from the early 1980s.

Most notable of the Rodgers all-pipe organs during this decade was installed at Second Baptist Church in Houston, Texas, a five-manual, 192-rank Rodgers pipe organ.

A  four-manual, 70-rank Rodgers pipe organ was installed at Glenkirk Presbyterian Church in Glendora, California. It was featured on the cover of The American Organist magazine and has been featured on the program PipeDreams. In 2009, the console was upgraded to state-of-the-art technology and 79 premium high resolution digital stops were added to expand and enhance the tonal specification. Other large Rodgers pipe organs include a four-manual pipe organ for First Baptist Church in Waco, Texas, and large three-manual pipe organs for St. Paul United Methodist in Cincinnati and First Christian Church in Plano, Texas.

The first Rodgers pipe organ is installed in St. Matthew Catholic Church in Hillsboro, Oregon – just 2 miles from the Rodgers factory.

Rodgers has been the world’s largest builder of organ consoles to play pipes. Although Rodgers has discontinued building all-pipe organs, Rodgers can lay claim to more than 4,500 installations in churches, residences, and auditoriums worldwide where a Rodgers console plays real pipes. In most cases, the installation is a pipe/digital hybrid, where the finest high-resolution pipe organ digital samples are incorporated into the tonal design of the organ.

Thousands of Rodgers hybrid pipe/digital organs have been installed globally, where the Rodgers organ plays new or previously existing pipes.
