Testimonial: Rodgers 484 for the Zion Lutheran Church, Fort Wayne, IN.

After sixty-five years of faithful service, the Casavant console controlling the 68 stop organ at Zion Lutheran Church, Fort Wayne, was showing its age. Over the past thirty years, the keyboard coverings had been replaced five times, the pedal caps had been replace twice, and the organist spent almost as much time cleaning and adjusting key contacts as he did practicing.

As these minor problems began to grow and multiply, the congregation began investigating different solutions to overcome the effects of time and wear. After considering the merits and expenses of console rebuilds and console replacements, Zion ultimately chose to install a Rodgers 484 console.

The elegant Pipe Integration Manager, which is software based, is a brilliant means to control pipework, even when the pipework is upon differing styles of wind chests! PIM afforded almost unlimited flexibility in allocating the existing resources - allowing changes to the specification via software (via an Excel spreadsheet!) to be made in just minutes, as no wiring needs be unsoldered and re-soldered. The console, keyboards, pedalboard, and stop controls are of the highest quality and elegance.

As the instrument is heard not only in the Divine Service, but also in recital and concert, it has a high profile within the community. Rodgers has taken a fine instrument and made it a magnificent one!
