Looking back: Rodgers Play!

In May, we introduced an exciting new feature: Rodgers Play, a convenient remote control app for smartphones. Check out the video we made for the announcement here!

Rodgers Play empowers users to remotely control their compatible Rodgers organ directly from their smartphone. The app connects seamlessly to a local network or creates its own connection, eliminating the need for an existing internet connection.

Once connected, users can play and pause any onboard music stored on the instrument, including hymns, preludes, and personal recordings on an attached USB drive. The app also allows users to create playlists with shuffle and autoplay controls, transpose music to different keys, and adjust tempo during playback, providing a versatile and customizable musical experience.

We had received numerous requests for this functionality, and we were thrilled to finally unveil it. The positive feedback from our users has been immensely gratifying.

One particularly interesting use case we discovered is organists listening to their own performances from different parts of a venue while rehearsing. With Rodgers Play, users can conveniently pause and revisit sections of a performance while moving to different positions, such as a balcony or distant seat. This allows performers to simulate the experience of different audience members and gain a comprehensive understanding of how their piece will sound throughout the venue, not just from the center stage.
