An Artist Series Workshop & Concert on a New 3-Manual Organ in West Fargo, ND!
Dan Miller presented a Saturday workshop to 18 enthusiastic organists and a Sunday concert to a full church at St. Andrew Lutheran Church (LCMS) in West Fargo, ND, celebrating the installation of a new Rodgers three-manual Artist Series 589. The new Artist Series three-manual organ received many accolades during the festive weekend.
The choir loft was full to capacity with area organists and musicians for the Saturday morning organ workshop. The dedication concert on Sunday included organ solos, organ accompaniment for the church choir and congregational singing, and an organ/piano duet. The events of the weekend received many enthusiastic comments from church members and guests. Dan Miller, organist for the workshop and concert, says “Congratulations to St. Andrew Lutheran Church for your beautiful new Rodgers organ that will serve your congregation and community for years. It was an honor and pleasure to celebrate the organ with you! The organ sounds glorious, thanks to the superb installation by Peggy Bartunek of Rodgers Classic Organs and dedicated volunteers from the church.”
In addition to Dan’s solo pieces, the St. Andrew Lutheran choir sang, accompanied by Dan on the organ. Dan and Susan Jahnke (choir director and organist) played Dan’s piano/organ duet arrangement of “Holy, Holy, Holy”. The congregation’s voices filled the church, singing “Let All Mortal Flesh” and “Crown Him With Many Crowns”.
The installation is somewhat unique in that the organ the console and Choir division speakers are in the balcony (where the St. Andrew choir sings) and the Great, Swell, and Pedal division speakers are placed in the chancel. St. Andrew hosted fellowship following the concert. Dan’s playing was projected to screens in the chancel so the audience could enjoy watching his hands and feet.
Peggy Bartunek of Rodgers Classic Organs (Rodgers Dealer for ND. SD, & NW MN) warmly adds, “We had a large, appreciative crowd at Dan Miller’s concert on the Rodgers Artist Series 589 at St. Andrew Lutheran in West Fargo. Dan performed beautifully from the balcony and his playing was projected on screens in the chancel, making it possible for the audience to watch his hands and feet. THANK YOU to Dan, and to all the people of St. Andrew who made the organ installation a reality.” For more information regarding the installation of the St. Andrew Lutheran Church’s new Rodgers Artist Series 589 Installation please click here.
