Infinity 361 for St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church, St. John, IN.

The organ for St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church, St. John, Indiana was designed and built by Triune Music of Elmhurst, Illinois and by Fratelli Ruffatti of Padua, Italy. The Infinity 361 console was built by Rodgers Instruments of Hillsboro, Oregon.

It is a custom mechanical drawknob console made of American Oak with an ebony interior. It meets the standards of the American Guild of Organists with a 32-note pedal board and three 61-note manuals that feature UHT, velocity-sensitive keying for MIDI sounds. The console’s operating system is connected to a tuning sensor that monitors room temperature to keep the digital stops (including the MIDI sounds) in tune with the pipe stops at all times. The console has been pre-programmed to accept forty additional pipe ranks.

The organ case is made from White Oak and was designed by Fratelli Ruffatti to complement the architectural features of the church. All of the pipes in the façade are speaking pipes and are part of the Great and Pedal divisions. The placement of the case on the central axis of the worship space adds clarity and focus to the organ.

A spectacular feature of this instrument is the dramatic "Pontifical Trumpet." Its hand-made, polished brass resonators extend horizontally from the center of the pipe façade, and it speaks with authority over the full organ. It is especially appropriate for weddings and other festive occasions.

The vision for this instrument has been driven by its need to serve the church as an integral part of the musical fabric of the Mass, and also going beyond that scope to enable organ, choral and liturgical literature of all styles and periods to be performed successfully. It brings together technology and art, creating a concept which combines the "wonder" of electronics with the "magic" of windblown pipes.

Thank you so much for your continual attention and care of our organ here at St. John the Evangelist!
